LEANNE KRUEGER-BRANEKY PRAISES GOVERNOR WOLF’S VETO ON FY2016 BUDGET

Campaign calls on Republican Paul Mullen to tell voters if he will side with corporations or public school children

Swarthmore, July 1, 2015— The campaign to elect Democratic nominee Leanne Krueger-Braneky to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 161st District released the following statement on Wednesday supporting Governor Tom Wolf’s veto of the FY 2016 budget passed June 30th by the Pennsylvania House and Senate.

“I applaud Governor Wolf’s veto of the disastrous Republican budget sent to his desk yesterday,” said Krueger-Braneky. “Republicans in the legislature would rather play political games with essential government services than pass the responsible and balanced budget proposed by the Governor.”

Krueger-Braneky continued: “If elected, I’ll vote to pass a budget which prevents government disruption and ensures that all public school students and families have the certainty of knowing the school year will begin on time.”

“The residents of the 161st District deserve a committed voice in Harrisburg to help Governor Wolf fight for a fair and balanced budget that will reverse the Corbett education cuts and provide much-needed tax relief to homeowners,” said Joe Corrigan, spokesman for the Leanne Krueger-Braneky campaign. “Leanne is committed to supporting a fair, sustainable, statewide public education funding formula and real support for local businesses in order to create jobs and make our economy work for the people of Delaware County and the rest of the Commonwealth. If elected, Leanne will be an emphatic vote for the Governor’s budget.”

Corrigan continued: “Voters in the 161st District deserve to know if Paul Mullen agrees that corporations and industries should pay their fair share to lessen the burden on families and allow the Commonwealth to fund public education. Will Paul Mullen side with the children and homeowners of Delaware County, or will he oppose Governor Wolf’s budget and vote with the radical Republican leadership in Harrisburg who are funding his campaign?”

The special election in the 161st District will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.
